- INEOS recognised for its activity in the fight against coronavirus
Earlier this week, the Worshipful Company of Horners, in partnership with the British Plastics Federation (BPF), announced the winners of its COVID-19 Outstanding Achievement Awards. INEOS has been recognised for its activity in the fight against coronavirus.
INEOS was commended for its efforts to rapidly build facilities to produce and supply millions of bottles of sanitiser for thousands of hospitals across Europe, for free. Demonstrating INEOS’ agility, the new manufacturing plants were brought online in a matter of days, helping front line hospital staff stay safe throughout the first lockdown period when supplies were at their most critical.
George Ratcliffe, Chief Operating Officer INEOS Hygienics, said, “We moved quickly to help address the shortage of hand sanitisers across Europe at the start of the pandemic. Getting production up and running in such a short space of time involved a huge team effort, and it’s something we are all incredibly proud of. Being acknowledged by the Worshipful Company of Horners and the BPF is a much-appreciated recognition for everyone involved.”
Mike Birrell, one of the award judges, said: “INEOS stepped up in the fight against coronavirus and played its part to help the NHS to respond to a shortage of hand sanitiser created by COVID 19. We were impressed by its agility and the speed that it created six factories, each in ten days to supply millions of bottles of hand sanitiser to thousands of hospitals in Europe and the USA.”
