Hi guys,
I’m Harry Jameson - Personal Trainer and Wellbeing Specialist.
This month, I'll be leading a masterclass right here around the Power of Wellbeing.
We’re asking everyone to enroll in the INEOS Go Humans Academy and get involved to supercharge their physical and mental health.
It doesn’t matter how fit you are. Even the smallest changes can add up to make a big difference.
So, however you’re feeling today, this is going to change how you feel tomorrow.
The first challenge we’ve got for you is the WALK OUT PUSH UP TEST.
This exercise is designed for core and upper body strength AND mental endurance.
Building mental resilience through pushing yourself physically is an apt metaphor for life.
When we’re exercising, our body often wants to stop way before it reaches maximum capacity.
This test can challenge the disconnect between “feeling”, and the body’s capacity to DO MORE than you think - because it allows us to show the ability to cope with and adapt to new situations and challenges.
As a progress-based exercise, your limit will quickly move up.
And this is how it looks:
Stand tall, bend down, and walk out with your hands into a push up position.
High plank, core braced, glutes engaged.
Aim for your nose to go one inch from the floor.
You can either do one full push up, or one kneeling push up, then return to the start position.
- Level 1 high plank
- Level 2 kneeling press up
- Level 3 full press up
Repeat, but this time complete two push-ups, then three push-ups and so on.
Your final score is the number of push-ups you managed on the last attempt, plus the number you failed on that attempt.
So, you were aiming for 10 but only made 6? Then your score would be 9.6.
You don’t have to keep score, but I find it’s a great way to track your progress and have a goal to work towards.
Now, you need to practice this 3 times a week over the next 30 days.
You CAN do it. So, let’s go.
Let us know how you get on by tagging us on your journey on INEOS’s Instagram.
